Led by Sportsman of the year Devendra Bishoo with 4-39 and Veerasammy Permaul with 3-19 Guyana seized first innings points at tea on the second day of the WICB Regional Four-Day Championship match at Windsor Park in Dominica.
Leewards, replying to Guyana’s 208 all out, were dismissed for 98 in the first innings. Guyana had resumed from their overnight 162/4 at stumps to be dismissed for 208. In Guyana’s innings Leon Johnson led with 52 and got support from Narsingh Deonarine 49 and Chris Barnwell 22. Gavin Tonge was the pick of the Leewards bowling with 5-53, Anthony Martin 2-44 and Justin Athanaze 2-58.
For the Leewards only Kieran Powell with 37 made any useful contribution with the bat as Bishoo and Permaul spun webs.
Batting a second time Guyana, leading Leeward Islands by 110 on first innings, reached 86-6 in their second innings at the close on the Day 2 in a spot of bother but with a lead of 194
